Inspiring the Young Workforce
On the 2nd of November, the School Captains organised the first Expressive Arts and Creative Industries careers event for S3 and S4. The aim of the day was to enlighten pupils to the exciting opportunities available to them in a career that is expressive arts-based (English, Media, Graphics, Music, Performance and Art) and to open doors to the world beyond academics.
Pupils heard from a variety of speakers, each with their own experiences including, Fiona McKenzie and Marlisa Ross of Centrestage; Local costume designer Nicola Russell; teacher and Printmaker Mr. Palmer, former pupils turned musicians Chris Whitehouse and Scott Kerr, journalist Katrina Tweedie, writer and lecturer of film and television at RCS Andy Dougan and 6th year pupil Cameron Inglis.
The day was a roaring success with pupils coming away with a greater knowledge of the amazing opportunities out there in the world for them. We would like to thank all guests and pupils who took part in the day as well as those who supported the event, making it an enjoyable day for all.
